Fernando de Noronha Island - Isle of Peace
|
Fernando de Noronha Island, located some 340kms off the NE coast of Brazil, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 and truly is the iconic "ideal castaway island" of everyone's dreams! Also called "Brazil's answer to the Caribbean", it is a haven of beauty and tranquillity in an area blessed with having some of the world's best beaches (Easy Travel/Mar 2018) and best weather. The main island in a wider archipelago, it has unspoilt white beaches and crystal-clear waters with visibility over 50m, that offer "lovers of nature in the slow lane" the perfect location! Its principal attractions are its pristine beaches and pure waters, filled with a myriad of seabirds, turtles, dolphins and whales, all living in peace!

ONLY 420 visitors are permitted to visit the island each day, limiting the pressure on the eco-system and the limited hotels.
It is a "perfect" 77F/25C here for most of the year, with peak tourism season being mid-Dec to end Feb. It is driest in Oct and has rains between Jan and Aug. Life is very simple here, with one bank, no credit cards, only local currency accepted (Brazilian reais), and no taxis or internet. Flights arrive daily from Natal or Recife, typically costing US$450 for a return economy ticket. Top (5*) accommodation costs from US$ 700/night*; Medium range (4*/3*) from US$350/night; to local "pousada/inn/hostal" facilities that range between US$ 250 - 120/night* depending on dates/availability. For flights and hotel bookings it is HIGHLY recommended to book 6 months in advance! (based on 2 pers sharing, B&B) |
